FROM INEQUALITY TO INCLUSION: Gendered Perspectives on Labor, Informal Work and Social Protection in Southeast Asia
DIWA’s Maecel Cayanan and Veronica Iswinahyu participated in a webinar organized by SHAPE-SEA that explored the care economy and structural and institutional barriers to women’s equality in the workplace. Their insights were drawn from DIWA’s extensive experience in informal and atypical employment arrangements across Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesian palm oil plantations.
The webinar was moderated by Dr. Sirijit Sunanta (Mahidol University) and featured presentations by Veronica Iswinahyu and Maecel Cayanan (DIWA), and Sahid Hadi (Universitas Islam Indonesia).
DIWA continues to support companies to develop HRDD programs anchored on local realities, including innovative programs such as Gender Inclusivity in Plantations, designed to drive effective management practices and sustain positive change for workers.
